Original artwork created by Granville elementary and jr./sr. high school students will be on display at the Slate Valley Museum throughout the “Artists of the Slate Valley” exhibit, featuring work inspired by slate and living in the slate valley. The museum will host an opening reception on Friday, February 1, from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. and the show will run from Saturday, February 2 through Thursday, February 28 during regular museum hours.
Granville Jr./Sr. High students Nick Andrus, Torrey Amaral, Owen Burhnham, Shelby Figueroa, Grace Hemcher, Rachel Pietryka and Katie Wittman will have their individual work on display, representing different mediums. The elementary students collaborated in creating a mural for the show.
The exhibit will showcase and unite the talent of students across the slate valley with students with from other schools in the slate valley region. “The artwork is so varied and wonderful. The students did a great job and we’re proud to display their hard work on our walls,” says Krista Rupe, Executive Director of the Slate Valley Museum.
Jr./Sr. High School art teacher Mrs. Mikenzie Monroe commented, “What a cool opportunity and valuable experience for our students to have their work displayed in a museum with a theme they are so familiar with. I’m so happy we get to celebrate the talent of our students and creativity in this way! “
