You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown To Bring Fun and Friendship to the Stage

The Granville Drama Club will bring Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the whole gang to life during their production of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, on March 15, 2024, at 7 p.m. and March 16, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

“We chose this musical because of its wit and heart. It’s perfect for everyone in our community. It also really showcases our students’ musical talents,” said Ms. Tommasi, sixth-grade math teacher who is co-director with Ms. Coons, fifth and sixth-grade band teacher.

Twelve students make up the cast, including siblings who are playing siblings! Eighth-grader Kaiden DuPuis will play Charlie Brown, and senior Hailey DuPuis will play Sally Brown. Hailey is also doing double duty as the show’s choreographer.

“I have a lot of fun playing the younger sister,” said Hailey, “We are more relaxed in scenes together because we are siblings.”

Kaiden says that playing the oldest has been an adjustment, but playing Hailey’s brother comes naturally.

“The older/younger switch is a little strange, but it feels normal to be playing her brother and makes acting easier,” he said.

Besides being in the play, all cast members are involved in other school activities. Many also play sports or are a part of the school’s FFA chapter. Also, Gideon Duffy, who is playing Linus, played the same part recently in another production in Vermont.

The cast has been rehearsing since November, meeting twice a week. Starting in February, they rehearse four times a week. It’s a demanding schedule, but the students love it.

“The students have fun and enjoy being involved in the show. We learn a lot about respect and time management and how to work with others during rehearsals,” said Ms. Tommasi.

Other principal cast members include Gideon Duffy as Linus VanPelt, Cecile Velez as Lucy VanPelt, Taylor Hoyt as Schroeder, and Cammi DeKalb as Snoopy.
