The Crucible Play Image - A book by Arthur Miller

Granville Jr/Sr High English Teachers Mrs. Chiverton, Ms. Aubrey, Mr. Lambert and Ms. Gould took some of our 10th, 11th and 12th graders (including one 9th grader) to see the Crucible play performed by Home Made Theatre at Saratoga Music Hall, written by Playwright, Arthur Miller.

The play is directed by Antoinette Sommo, a retired English teacher who is now a special education teacher here at Granville Jr/Sr High.

"Widely considered a masterpiece, this timeless classic challenges American ideas of power, intolerance, and justice. In the Puritan community of Salem, Massachusetts, a servant girl accuses a farmer’s wife of witchcraft. One accusation spirals into many, uncovering a web of bigotry and deceit that changes their lives forever." - HomemadeTheatre.org, Saratoga Springs, NY

"The Crucible is a key book in the English Language Arts (ELA) curriculum. The 10th graders were able to experience it live before they start reading it, which will bring the story to life as they study it.

Our 11th graders read it at the beginning of the year, and our 12th graders read it last year, so it was great to see the student across grade levels connecting with this classic story in a meaningful way." - Ms. Gould
