Walking Inspiration

New to walking? Start with one 10 minute loop and work up to 20-30 minutes. One loop around the upstairs and downstairs of the Jr/Sr High is about 10 minutes.

Aches and pain? You don't have to take any stairs, if you prefer, and just walk around the downstair hallways. Learn about proper walking form here.

Speed is not necessary! You don't have to walk fast to feel better and brighter. Stroll, relax and enjoy stretching your legs. Start where you are.

Sport families: Try walking while waiting for practice to be over. Park and walk for five to 10 minutes is better than no minutes.

Cheer on our teams! Arrive early for a game and walk for a bit right before a basketball game or wrestling meet. You don't have to have a student playing to cheer on the Golden Horde! Here is the link to the game schedule.

Make walking time friend or family time. Bring the family or meet a friend to walk right before or after dinner, and before you hit the couch.

Try a new routine: Pop in on the way home from work and walk for 10-20 minutes to decompress and unwind before you get home. Start with just once or twice a week and gradually add more.

Take advantage of wait time. Dropping a student off for a game an hour plus before the game starts? Walk around the building to unwind or energize while listening to some favorite tunes on a free streaming platform like Spotify or a try new podcast.

Make it interesting! Download a free audio book from the Libby App (all you need is a free library card, and you can get one from the Pember Library in Granville). See the resources list for more ideas.
