Talent Unlimited is a literary journal through BOCES that annually has an open call to schools in our area for art, both Literary and Visual. They received over 300 entries and from those 300 writers and artists, 2 were selected from our school to be published in this year's journal. Cecil Velez and her beautiful paper mache masks titled "Passing the Torch" were named in connection with her family legacy of making masks made traditionally in Puerto Rico and Kaden Gates for his awe-inspiring poem "Cemetery of My Memory" about trusting one's memories.
Interesting side note. Cecil's sculpture is the first ever 3D piece accepted into Talent Unlimited.

The Jeff Blatnick New York State Olympic Style Wrestling Championships was held on May 3, 2024 through May 5, 2024 in Binghamton, NY. These tournaments are two of three competitions for the prestigious NYS "Triple Crown" Award. The other one being the NY-USA Folkstyle State Championship held at Bayshore, NY. A wrestler would have to win all three to be a "Triple Crown" winner. The tournament in Binghamton was also the Qualifier for NYS to attend the Nationals to be held in Fargo, ND this summer. AJ Landon was the first for Granville to attain this special achievement. He won all three tournaments at 190lbs in the 16U division. There were 4 other wrestlers who competed last weekend. Nathan Barber qualified for Fargo with a 3rd place finish at 16U 144 lbs and placed 5th in Freestyle. Jaymie Landon qualified for Fargo placing 3rd at Junior division in 145lbs. Carter Lehoisky placed 7th at 16U 108 lbs. Kaiden Turenne took 2nd in Freestyle and 1st in Greco-Roman at 165lbs.
