The Missoula Children's Theatre is coming to Granville for a free educational theatre camp thanks to the PTO!

The Play: The Emperor's New Clothes

Sponsored by the Granville PTO and the Granville Community Foundation!

Free for up to 60 Granville Students in Rising Grades 2 - 7

They will learn lines, music, and choreography all while gaining lifelong skills including teamwork, dedication, creativity, communication skills and self-esteem -- right here in Granville thanks to the PTO!

Special Thanks to the Granville CSD Facilities Team for Working with the PTO to make this happen during a very busy construction season.

8/3 - Day 1 - Audition and Rehearsal Begins
8/4 - Day 2 - Rehearsal
8/5 - Day 3 - Rehearsal + Piano Player Begins
8/6 - Day 4 - Rehearsal
8/7 - Day 5 - Rehearsal and Show Time 5:30 PM for Parents/ Community at GES (60-70 Min)

Missoula Children's Theatre group will send a two-person tour team to lead the program and the PTO will organize parent volunteers to assist in this program.

ABOUT MCT

The Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT), the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre, has been touring extensively for more than 50 years now from Montana to Japan, and will visit nearly 1,000 communities this year with up to 44 teams of Tour Actor/Directors.

A tour team arrives in a given town with a set, lights, costumes, and props, everything it takes to put on a play...except the cast. The team holds an open audition and casts 50-60 local students to perform in the production. The show is rehearsed throughout the week and two public performances are presented on Saturday.

A team of two adult, professional Actor/Directors will be visiting your community for the week. These individuals are typically college graduates with training in either education, theatre, musical theatre or a combination. During their week-long residencies throughout the continent and beyond, MCT Tour Actor/Directors serve as ambassadors for the arts; especially the theatre. They have the joy of directing and performing as well as the adventure of travel. Simply put, they have the opportunity and the privilege to change the lives of thousands of young people by carrying out MCT’s Mission. (Each individual on our touring staff goes through an arduous process of interviews, reference checks, criminal background checks and fingerprinting – both background checks and fingerprinting are completed by a nationally recognized company.)

All MCT shows are original adaptations of classic children’s stories and fairytales . . . a twist on the classic stories that you know and love. Also included in the residency are three enrichment workshops presented by the Tour Actor/Directors. Creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication skills and self-esteem are all characteristics that are attained through the participation in this unique, educational project. MCT's mission is the empowerment of children and adults through theatre education and performance to develop lifelong skills while enriching communities worldwide through live productions.
