Internet Safety Notification for Families: An App called The Monkey is making the rounds among students in the region. It is a high-risk video chat platform connecting users, often children and teens, with strangers via random, short video calls. Safety concerns include exposure to explicit content, predatory behavior, and lack of strict age verification, despite a 18+ policy. It is similar to Omegle, often used for quick, anonymous interactions and "pranks".

MJT Weekly Update: Practice Drills Begin Next Week
As required by New York State Education Law, the students and staff at MJT will be practicing “Evacuation Drills” and “Lockdown Drills.”
We will begin our Spring drills next week, and will conduct these drills over the next few weeks. Each type of emergency drill is explained below:
EVACUATION DRILLS
In an “Evacuation Drill,” the school community will practice the procedure of safely leaving the building. Students will be guided to a designated safe area outside and then brought back inside once the drill is complete. These drills help us ensure that everyone can evacuate calmly and safely in an emergency.
LOCKDOWN DRILLS
The purpose of a “Lockdown Drill” is to practice keeping everyone safe from any danger outside or inside the building. During this drill, all doors inside and out of the school building will be locked and no one will be allowed to enter or leave until the drill is completed. Students and staff will remain inside locked classrooms until released by law enforcement and/or our administrative staff. Announced clearly as a drill, this exercise helps everyone practice responding safely and quietly in the event of an emergency.
As a reminder to guardians/families:
You will not be permitted to enter the building during a drill, and no phone calls to the main office will be answered during this time.
If you are dropping off a student or picking up a student while a drill is in progress, you will need to wait outside until instructed otherwise by school personnel.
After the drill, you can support your child by helping them understand why we practice and prepare by conducting drills.
Please remember that conducting these safety drills can help maintain our schools as a safe place to learn and work.
Please reach out with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Breanne Taylor
MJT Principal

A Message from MJT Principal Taylor: Yesterday at MJT, we began a One School, One Book reading program. We sent home the book "Gooseberry Park and the Master Plan".
Please set aside a few minutes each evening to read a chapter with your MJT student. Some students may want to read to their stuffed animals or action figures, or may want an older sibling to read to them! There will be a trivia contest on our morning announcements each day.
The reading schedule is here: https://www.granvillecsd.org/article/2820215 and a paper copy was sent home yesterday.
Congratulations to our first trivia contest winners:
Kendall Currier
Hazel Holmes
Anthony Tagliento
Mila Nestle
Please feel free to send Mrs. Taylor btaylor@granvillecsd.org or Mrs. Rozell krozell@granvillecsd.org some photos of your student reading the book at home for our website and newsletter. Happy Reading!
